Cairo Shadow

Mediterranean blue-green
so far below, maybe six miles
or 48,000km if preferred
with the fire of starlight from our
friend The Sun covering Egyptian sand
and stone near a beachline that’s almost never changed
in human time.
The pyramids want you to see them
scattered so far in the south near the
echoes of Cairo and New Cairo with their
seasoned shadows, plus mysteries never seen
beneath stone in the ground
far below.
Gold it may be, or diamonds somehow dug
from geologic coincidence and
maybe even sapphire in a cobra’s eyes
or maybe a ring
on the finger of Dahlia, her olive
splendor of Egypt forever Hypatia stone
at midnight.

Bantu Wind

French horns cover the desert
and a man
made of bronze
takes leave from certain doom
via harbour boat and Mediterranean dance
with music.
